The licensees of the so-called NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials) industries, in compliance with Title VII of Royal Decree 783\/2001, of July 6, approving the Regulation on Health Protection against Ionizing Radiations (RPSRI); and IS-33 of December 21, 2011, of the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council, on radiological criteria for protection against exposure to natural radiation, published in BOE 1238\/2012, a radiological impact study must be carried out as a consequence of the presence of natural radionuclides in the raw material and\/or processed\/elaborated materials that may produce exposures of the public or workers that are significant from the point of view of radiological protection.<\/p>\n
The LRA, following the criteria of the CSN Safety Guide GS-11.03, carries out the necessary studies to assess the radiological impact of NORM industries. Likewise, and making use of the criteria established in CSN Safety Guide GS-11.04, it performs radon assessment in workplaces.<\/p>\n
In addition, it also has equipment for sampling and radiological characterization of suspended dust particles present in industries such as ceramics, refractory materials, pigments, etc. Static or personal samplers are used depending on the needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
