The LRA characterizes materials from the NORM industry, whether they are raw materials, end products or construction materials, by determining the natural gamma emitters using a Ge(HP) semiconductor detector. (nº_620/LE1050)
The main natural radionuclides to be determined are 226Ra, 232Th y 40K. In addition, LRA carries out Declarations of Conformity according to national and international regulations related to building materials and ceramic products, such as:
European Union: Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom of 5 December 2013 laying down basic safety standards for protection against dangers arising from exposure to ionizing radiation.
China: GB 6566-2010, Limits of radionuclides in building materials. National Standard of the People’s Republic of China, 2010.
Eurasian Economic Union: GOST 30108-94, “Building materials and elements. Determination of specific activity of natural radioactive nuclei”. State Committee for the Russian Federation for Standardization and Metrology, Moscow, 1994
